Tomatoes, eggplants, carrots, strawberries, cherries, oranges, robots, and even Batman - it could all be found at Nine Studio’s section at Farmers’ Market. On June 23rd and July 8th, we put up our own art section at Fort Mason Farmers’ Market were kids were able to come and create with us.
We came prepared with play-doh, watercolors, papers, crayons, chalk and turned the back of the market into a little art section. It was amazing to see all kids who came just to create with us! Even some parents couldn’t help themselves and ended up making their own art pieces or collaborated with their children. Some stayed for 10 minutes, some stayed for over an hour, but no matter how long they stayed we made sure that they had a great time!
It was so much fun to see kids turn our play-doh into vegetables which later turned into characters with the cutest faces. I always get inspiration from kids and their imagination. There is no “wrong”. There is neither a “right” way. They let their imagination create their final product which most of the time becomes really eye-catching; for example, one girl said that her favorite fruit was strawberries but she liked the color orange better since she was a Giants fan, and that is why she decided to make an orange strawberry with a Giants hat. It came out looking amazing, and that says a lot considering that I pull for Oakland A’s. Another child said that he had no idea that vegetables could be so much fun (even if the vegetables weren’t real).
This was only two of several public events that we will organize for our community! Want to know what the absolute best thing about it is? It is totally free! Come and make art with us at Fort Mason Farmers' Market and keep an eye out for other events that we may organize in the near future!
