Rules for Art
I was a nerd when I grew up. I still am in a way. I am a perfectly imperfect mom, lousy wife, lazy friend who never call my friends, and an eccentric nerdy artist who wants to bring a different art education to children. I love reading. I love finding out things from books and testing them out in a real world, challenging myself to get me to the next level. Sometimes it's unpredictable but it's fun. That's what I learn from being an art student. Art is always unexpected and surprises viewers in a sometimes pleasantly unpleasant way. During my college, I learned to expect to handle unexpected events.
I still remember the first day that I walked in the courtyard of my college, San Francisco Art Institute. There was a tiny pond with a few goldfish and almost every student had piercings all over their bodies (ear rings, nose rings, and any rings you could think of). Everything was foreign to me but I was excited about opening a new chapter for myself. During my college, I was unexpectedly challenged to be different than I expected - be creative and be yourself. I continuously pushed myself to think outside of box until I learned there was no box. I found my new self and I have become a joyful explorer and happy learner since then. Once kids become a joyful explorer, they can do everything they want in their lives. Why not introduce art to kids?
Kids are born to be creative and love to explore new things. Nine Studio is a place to be silly, get messy, learn from their experience and have fun with their peers and our team. Our team members who come from all different art backgrounds create our fun art activities and provide all kinds of materials - from found objects, recycled materials, to professional paints. Children can be anyone who they want to be at Nine Studio. They will learn to be themselves from our nurturing environment with art.
But how do we make a good environment for children to learn autonomy? How do children solve problems on their own pace? How do we help children prevent from forgetting their craziness and creativities when they grow up? And finally how do we teach children to collaborate each other? Art would do and that's what we do for children.
Learning is fun and it should be. No one likes to study but everyone loves learning. We are naturally curious, wondering and always thinking. One of my favorite phrases is 'exceeding boundaries’. Teachers at Nine Studio are explorers, artists, and educators who create a fun learning for all children and we will go beyond that box. We strive for infinite possibilities for joyful learning through play and creativity with children.
Welcome to Nine Studio!
